You were born to be real, not perfect.

Trying to think of something happy, I sit for hours and shake my head at every thought. But then I see something unexpected. And I can’t help but smile.
My roommate had a hard day today. She was emotionally upset and drained and just generally frustrated. This was increased by the fact that she and my other roommate generally don’t get along. She came into my room and told me all the horribleness that was her day and how it had been just made worse by the interactions of the day. And my thoughts on the situation? Why would you hold that stuff in? Being upset hurts, and it’s emotionally draining, but holding it in is what makes it so. If you just take one little frustration and let it swell up in your head, you’re going to be carrying around a lot more emotional turmoil that if it had just lasted for a few seconds of intense expression. My advice for the day: express yourself. Don’t let the little things build up inside until you have a day where it all comes crashing down on you. You are a great person and you do deserve to express your feelings, no matter what they are. Letting it out for 5 minutes will relieve 5 days of stress and frustration. Allow yourself to feel the excitement, pain, joy, frustration, sickness, hurt, whatever it is. And then move on. Because there’s no way to move on with unresolved issues. Breathe deeply. Yell. Tell someone they’ve hurt you. And work to make it better.
